Question:

If you definitely don't qualify for financial aid...?

and don't get that much scholarship money either, but REALLY want to attend a particular college...is it best to find a cheaper college, or somehow attend and try to pay it off? (and this is NYU we're talking here...)

  1. From personal experience, try to set realistic goals. NYU is a good school, but it's really expensive. Not just tuition, but living in NYC is more expensive than most 18 yr olds can afford. When I was deciding on colleges, I remember someone telling me that college is like ice cream, there are many flavors to choose from and they are all different...but at the end you are still getting ice cream.

    All i can say is be smart about it. I chose a reach school that offered me no aid and couldn't pay my second semester so I stayed home and now I'm exploring every option to see if I can go back to school, when a year ago there were many colleges that would have given me a full ride.
