  1. Yes, there are many alternatives around.

A very good, free anti-virus available to download is AVG 8 Anti-virus:

    http://www.free.grisoft.com

And for any spyware problems, get SpyBot - Search and Destroy:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirro...

Also, for protecting your personal info and files, use Ad-Aware 2008 Free Edition:

    http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_fr...

All of them are free, as powerful as paid programs, like Norton and McAfee, and don't use up as many resources.

Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.

    Hope that helps.

  2. there are free anti spyware out there if you look.  spybot, adaware, etc

  3. Download Spybot Search and destroy, it's free, it works, and takes off a lot of spy ware and viruses!

  4. Anti spywares doesn't cost loads of money even the best of them. You can find information and reviews on the most rated anti spywares at the link below.

  5. If you don't have antivirus

    http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Editi...

    antispyware

  6. I use three different programs (all free), AVG anti-virus, Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search and Destroy.

  7. The BEST way to keep spam and spyware and viruses off your computer is by investing in a good firewall, anti virus and anti spyware. There are many ABSOLUTELY FREE programs out there. Let's narrow down the choices for you:

    ~* Free anti virus options*~

Avast! is a nice anti virus. I've heard that many people enjoy using it. There is also AVG anti virus. I used that for awhile and it was good, but I found a better free anti virus called Avira AntiVir. The only thing that may bother you about the anti virus is the fact that it updates A LOT. It pops up a lot, but the updates are normally very quick, usually less than 5 minutes depending on the update. Avira AntiVir found more viruses than AVG ever did on my computer.

    ~*Anti Spyware options*~

Personally, I've used SuperAntiSpyware. It's a great powerful little free program. I also used Spybot Search and Destroy which was good, but not as great as SuperAntiSpyware.

    ~*Firewall options*~

I use Comodo Firewall Pro. Many other people recommend ZoneAlarm as well, but I've had no experience with it.

***As a side note: ALl THESE PROGRAMS I HAVE MENTIONED ARE ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! I'll list the links to download the programs in the source area beneath my post. Good luck!!

  8. With spam just don't open any accounts on any websites that's all I can tell you about spam.

  9. You download programs such as Ad-Aware and Spybot - which are free - and run them frequently.  In order to keep SPAM and spyware off your PC, you would have to stop exploring.  You should be aware that your surfing is being watched by more than spammers and those who want to disrupt your computer.  Did you ever search for something you wished to buy, then find yourself diluged with ads - in the form of SPAM - from companies dealing with similar products, or you start receiving numerous catalogs from stores you never heard of ...

Here are two good, free downloads.  I usually run Ad-Aware when I'm ready to quit the PC but know I will be around for 45 minutes or so.  Tracking cookies, etc. pile up daily.

    AVG free version, antivirus

    http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-...

scroll down and be sure to click on the free download

    Ad-Aware -- Downloaded 2/10/08 from:

    http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html...

scroll  halfway down the page to Adaware 7.0

    click Download

Be careful not to click Buy if you want the free version only.

    Spybot

  10. to remove it for free get Adaware by Lavasoft. They have a free version, and it's good, but you can't do automatic scheduling. You can get it from Cnet.com/downloads

To keep it off, use Firefox, rather than Internet Explorer.

  11. try spyware blaster and  avg or even you want top protection for 30 pounds get kaspersky its number 2 right now nearly number 1 its really good internet secruity suit also i can provide you with a key

  12. McGafee Anti-Virus Software. It's free.
