  1. It can be. Honors courses can help your GPA and all other things being equal a person who studies hard math classes is going to be more impressive to admissions officers than a person who takes easy classes. You can still get into college without honors classes, but it will probably be much harder to get into a prestigeous school.

  2. No, just make sure you fill out the applications perfectly.  If they ask for a writing piece, make sure you put some time and effort into it.  Do not miss the deadlines for submissions and make sure you get some references in advance.

    good luck

If you don't get into a major college you can consider going to a local community college and get the mandatory general studies out of the way.  This is also the way many new students are attacking the college thing these days. (it's cheaper)

  3. Of course not.  I have a friend who was in classes which were a level lower than honors (and this was for all her classes, all four years) and she managed to get into one of the best schools in my state.  As long as your grades are good and your GPA isn't extremely low you should be able to get into a great school.

  4. YES, it's absolutely harder. Colleges ask your school to check a box on the school report that goes in with your applications. They rank your lass load compared to what your school offers. If your school has a full slate of honors and APs and you didn't take them, many colleges will not even consider you.

Anyone who gives different advice here simply doesn't know what they're talking about!!

  5. I personally got into a great college without any honors classes. As long as you've done other things during school like extra curricular activities, volunteering, or held a job colleges look highly upon those things as well because it gives you a great balance. I'm sure you'll be just fine.
