What happens if you die on a cruise ship? I know most modern cruise ships have a morgue, but can they keep the body until the ship returns to home port, or must it be removed at the next port stop?

  1. at the next port the cops come aboard

  2. your body is offloaded at the next port of call

  3. Depends on the family members.

  4. why do you care if your allready dead....

  5. A friend lost her husband on a cruise and they stuck him in the freezer until they reached US waters. They were on a Mexican Cruise. I think it depends what waters you are in as to what they do with the body. Somone died on a Hawaiian Cruise and they took the body off next Port.

  6. Why care? If youe dead youre dead. Johan

  7. they bury you at sea. a very solemn and moving sevice actually.

  8. well, one time i was stuck at the miami airport and i struck up a conversation with an older lady. she had just taken a 14 day cruise through the panama canal. well, not one but two people died on that cruise! she was telling me that they had to divert the ship, actually turn it around because they wanted to drop the body off at the nearest port (behind them) and not wait until they crossed the canal. sooo, she was all bent out of shape becase they missed 2 ports and the only compensation they got was a $20 ship board credit. lol. i say if somebody dies, it is fine if my vacation gets interrupted a little bit.

  9. A guy died on my Cruise last year.  The U.S. Coast Guard picks up the body the next time you make port.

  10. Your body will then be fish food.
