Do you automatically think that person is bad or do you want to find out their story and judge from there? How do you (truthfully) think you'll react?

  1. Usually people with restraining orders against them have serious issues ,hold grudges or can't deal with many things like being fired from a job, alcoholism, divorce issues, child custody, drugs and many suffer from mild to moderate to severe depression.

  2. I would consider it a bad sign, as most restraining orders do have reason behind them.  However, if there is no criminal history, it would be a good sign.  It would suggest that s/he has at least complied with the restraining order.  Having a restraining order against you is not a crime in itself; it's a civil matter.

How I would react would depend on why I did the background check.  It would be different if I were renting to him, hiring him, and if hiring him, for what kind of job; or if I was dating him, or whatever.  It would also depend on what else I know about him.
