If someone's license was taken due to a DUI, how can they register, tag and insure a recently purchased vehicle in their name?

  1. Yes you can.  A drivers license is just that,  a license to drive.  It is not a license to own, register or insure.  Think of all of the people out there, elderly, rich, disabled who own register and insure cars who don't have a license but choose to be chauffeured in their own registered tagged and insured cars by someone else


  2. in california you can own a car and register it if you do not have a driver's license. however you must be specifically excluded from any insurance policy on the car and on the driver's insurance. and if you are caught driving it, the car will be impounded for 30 days and you will have the problem of driving on a suspended license.

  3. You would probably have to wait a while to redeem your license.
