  1. I am not sure about all states, but in California the insurance is on the vehicle, the person who insures the car must either insure the other licensed drivers under the same roof on the car or waive them as never driving the car.

People who do not live under the same roof may borrow the car and the insurance is good so long as it is a licensed driver.

You would have to check the individual policies though as there may be provisions that require the other person to have insurance as well.

In either case a good friend or family member should always be respectful if the answer is NO to borrowing a car. We live in a litigious society and the simple act of loaning a car can be an open door to get sued.

  2. I think that the insurance company can dismiss the claim as well as cancel the policy of the person who holds it if you let someone who is uninsured drive your vehicle. So unless you have insurance, I wouldn't drive anyone elses car.

  3. Yes.  You may drive any insured vehicle with permission and a valid drivers license.  There is NO requirement that you need to be insured to drive anothers car.  (In the USA), Cars are insured, not drivers

  4. This question makes no sense at all.
