  1. I don't think so.  Rehab iisn't about turning to "God" for saviour.  Its about controlling your own demons and addictions.  Learning why you do the things you do, and learning how to cope with future situations.

Feck all to do with God.

  2. No not at all. I beat a bad booze problem & I don't believe in god! What you got to do is believe in yourself that you can live without drugs / booze. It's not easy - I had good support from my GP, family & a fantastic counsellor - have been booze free for 2 1/2 years with no urge to drink whatsoever. The longer you go without the easier it is, well it is for me anyway, I just keep reminding myself everday how much better my life is now and how good I feel. Self belief and self control is a powerful thing.

  3. If you are talking about the Higher Power stuff, the answer is NO.  Your HP is whatever or whom ever you choose it to be.  You simply recognize that there is a Higher Power above yourself.  Everyone has an HP- but it's the HP that they respect.  Doesn't have to be God.  That's why the term Higher Power is used.

  4. You have to know that you are not in control of your addiction and there are higher powers at hand (not necessarily god). But you can be in control of giving into that addiction or not.

  5. You dont have to believe in god,you have to believe in yourself to complete a rehab course.

  6. Hi, I am not religeous but I managed to clean myself up. I did it on my own going cold turkey, I wouldn't recomend it unless you have no other way. It was really hard when the withdrawel kicked it full swing. I hurt myself going through it but i perservierd. I am stubborn you see and wouldn't let anyone help, gluton for punishment. Although i am not religeous, i dont believe in god or anything, I do believe in energy, and when i was detoxing there was an energy around me. I couldn't see or feel it, i just knew it was there. Maybe i was still tripping, i'll never know but that energy gave me the strength to continue. What i am saying is that if you really want to quit then you will do it, it wont be easy, the cravings never go away but you learn to cope with that as time goes  by. If you dont want to quit you will find it that much harder and more likely to relapse. You have to want to stop, if you keep hold of that you willl make it. I still have other mental health problems which i wont go into but at least i can say this is one thing i have dealt with. You can do it!
