ya, if you are stepping off the car. Don't walk around the streets barefoot, because it is very dangerous. Well, you might step on something really gross. I'm not sure but isn't it safer to drive with shoes? But if you feel comfortable without, then its good, I think!

I do just in case of an emergency and I'd have to walk some place or if I'm pulled over, I can slip on my flip-flops.

if I have to in someplace yes if I am going someplace like the lake or just to a drive through then no I will just leave the shoes at home

I didn't know it was legal to drive without shoes on.  I always have atleast one on my right foot when I'm driving; I might just move the car from the parking lot to the garage without shoes on, but that's about it.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean but I know for sure that it's really dangerous to wear thongs while driving - my friend crashed his car because one of his thongs got caught on the accelerator.

I never drive without shoes in the car. If i'm wearing thongs, I just usually put them under the seat but I find it uncomfortable anyway driving without shoes.

I think driving with shoes is the best bet.
