If you drove on a rope hanging off the back of another moving vehicle what would happen?

One time I was driving behind a truck that had a long like rope thing trailing behind it, it was fabric and about an inch thick and flat, probably about 15 feet long, and securely fastened to his truck, so i don't think it would break or get yanked off. I was wondering what would happen if someone didn't see and drove on it. There are lots of options...it could possibly get tangled in your tire/axle, it could maybe stop either of the vehicles or both...maybe it wouldn't do much, maybe you could drive on it without even noticing. I was very curious (but of course, not willing to find out!)

Hmmm...any guesses? Any educated guesses based on physics?

  1.   As soon as your tire hit the rope, it would be pinned to the ground at zero miles per hour (the ground isn't moving) and either break or tear something off the back of the leading vehicle.

  2. If your vehicle speed is faster than that of both the trucks , you may sail through without noticing. If not, you won't be there to notice it, The second truck will be on you.

  3. You just about covered all the guesses.
