  1. no

  2. No, think you're refering to someone in the past dying due to heart failure after a big meal and then swimming, if you're health and a proper (not a glutton) eater there's little danger, it is suggested you let you're stomache settle you're food before any strenous activity.

  3. The idea of not going swimming after a meal is because adults, after a heavy meal want to go to sleep. SO they put that rumour about as they did not want to spend precious snooze time keeping an eye on youngsters.

You may suffer other problems though such as not being able to put all your energy into swimming since the food might make you a bit sleepy / lazy.

  4. No, it's something of an urban legend.  When you do any sort of vigorous exercise, your body shunts blood to your muscles and away from "unnecessary" functions such as digestion.

As a result, it's possible that you could get a stomach cramp if you swam too soon after eating, which could be dangerous if it happened in the middle of a lake, but it's still pretty unlikely.

I think the main reason is that, when you exercise on a full stomach and your digestion gets put on hold, your chances of throwing up increase greatly, and obviously, you don't want people throwing up in the water while there are other swimmers around.

Still, it's mainly just an old wives tale.  Going swimming after eating poses no real health risk, and there is certainly no risk at all in taking a bath after eating (especially since there's no exercise involved in a bath).

  5. No, you end up throwing up.  Eat at least an hour before swimming, but it doesn't matter before a bath.

  6. No. If you are highly sensitive to movement the most that could happen would be that you throw up. But this is rare, unless you eat A LOT.
