If you eat out at a sit down restaurant, how much do you expect to pay?

I am meeting my wife for dinner tonight. We are meeting at a sit down restaurant and will have dinner just the two of us. When we go out we are always trying to figure out how much we should spend. I am amazed how much it costs to eat at a sit down restaurant like TGIF or Ruby Tuesday and will do everything to save money. I like coupons or splitting meals. Or I just get a sandwich. It appears like most of the people around me have three courses, wine and a full entree and spend alot.

How about you?

  1. For me and my husband it usually costs anywhere from $30-45 dollars. Never fails he will order the most expensive steak he can find. I always get pasta cause I like that better.

  2. If I go to TGI Fridays, Chili's, or Applebee's & don't have AT LEAST $15... I go to Fast Food.

  3. meal-$20a meal x2=$40

    wine=$50

    2x appys=$25

    2x dessert= $20

             $135+tax=depending where you live appox $150 plus tip,so $180 to 200.

anything cheaper than above prices and your eating c**p,TGIF,applebees i laugh at you,go back to your troff

you get what you pay for,ie McDonald's,kfc.

he never said a "Diner",or cafeteria,he's meaning a nice restaurant,to any one who would never dream off spending above amount, your right, that would chew up a lot of your welfare check

  4. You can find good food for $10.00/each.  Try Fadi's Mediterrean Grill on Westheimer at Dunvale.  Meat with 1 side - $6.99.  Great food.

Or you can go to the Melting Pot and spend 100.00 each.  Fogo de Chao, around $60.00 each.

All these places have good food.

  5. $20 per person

  6. Money is no object for a good meal.  I've grown to appreciate good food... I am a chef at home (hobbyist) and I know to really prepare good food right, it takes a little cash.  Ya get what you pay for.

Two people at a Friday's or Ruby Tuesday should run about $40.

  7. You should be able to get by with $20 each if you each just drink water with your meal and do not order dessert.

  8. my husband and i are penny pinchers, ususally order water and good entrees and maybe one appetizer.  We usually get out under $30 with tip

  9. are you poor or just cheap? either way you should just eat at home if paying to eat out weighs on your mind so much. I FEEL SORRY FOR THE WAITRESS! i can imagine how much of a tip you leave.

  10. TGIFriday? Ruby Tuesday? They're sit-down fast food that serve alcohol. They aren't expensive, especially considering the portion sizes.

The last time I took my wife out we went to an Indian-fusion restaurant. We had two different venison (no, it was not an American Indian restaurant) dishes, a glass of wine each, and with tip our bill was $130. Worth every bite.

  11. i'd rather spend the money on a good ribeye at the store and cook it how i like it at home

  12. i eat out at least 5 times a week. the average meal for just me and my GF is around 30 but can add up easily depending on the restaurant and if we gets drinks. but when i'm with my boss the meals are al least $250 which i think is a little too much for a meal, but they have the money.
