I'm planning on enlisting in the Navy, but right now I'm visiting family in Tennessee. If I enlist in the reserves with the recruiter here can I immediately be stationed near my home in Texas once I'm through with basic training, or will they make me do my drilling in Tennessee for the next four years?

  1. you enlist for a specific unit.  if you try to enlist in TN, you will be assigned to a unit in TN.

should you live in TX it would be on you to get to drills monthly, all out of pocket.

  2. You can be stationed anywhere that has a Navy Reserve Center that needs someone with your MOS.

Just let the recruiter know that Tennesee is your home and he'll help you.
