When my dad's car was stolen I reported it stolen he had forged it in his name so when filing the report I said I was driving the car.....my dad who is abusive and was inside watching me file the report didn't want me to mention his name because he doesn't have a drivers license and forged it in my name. Later after he went up north I went to the police station and corrected the police report can I get in trouble if the truth came out after the abuser had gone up north.

  1. You could, but given the situation as you describe it, a District Attorney would likely not pursue charges against you.  If it should ever come up, make sure to explain to them the reason for the original report.

  2. Yes,

the original report wasn't true & that's all that matters.
