  1. You mean gouges...no they won't ever close, they should be repaired as soon as possible.

    If fiberglas then you can apply a small amount of marine epoxy which WALMART sells in the boating section.   But first sand the gouge lightly with 200 grit sand paper being careful not to over sand into the finish.  Then apply  a small amount of epoxy into the gouge.  after 2 hours apply another layer of the epoxy.

    Layers of epoxy are best because if you put too much on, it could sag the epoxy and then you have to start over.

    Just be careful with this epoxy, don't get it on ur nice clothes.

    If the gouge is in wood, then use wood putty.

    Be sure to sand the area lightly, apply it in layers, waiting about an hour between layers, then you will also need a light coating of finish to match the original wood finish.


  2. usually once u get to 2 gauge its hard to get them to close back up.
