Question:

If you get a tattoo does the ink kill off any hair that's under it?

I saw a guy with tattoos on his arms. There was hair around the tattoo but not where the tattoo really was...

Is that normal? Was the guy just weird?

  1. i wonder that 2

  2. Normally the area is shaved before you get a tattoo done if you're hairy in that spot. The hair grows back though.

  3. maybe he shaves his tattoo

    or maybe it was new

because they do shave it when they do it

but its usually gross because hair guys arms usually have hair growing out of their tattoo and its gross

he probably just shaves it trying to make it less gross but he still looks like a creeper

  4. The hair grows back just normal.  The ink does not do anything to the skin but change the color. Other than the color you would never know the difference from a spot with a tattoo and without a tattoo. It all feels the same, the hair grows the same. That guy just might shave the area where his tattoo is so you can see the tattoo better or something. If a tattoo stopped hair from going you would see some people with pretty funny hair patterns on their chest, legs, etc.

  5. Silly silly silly!

Tattoo ink doesn't 'kill off any hair'!

Your hair grows back, just like normal.

Tattooists shave off the hair before they work to insure a sterile environment, and not to have hairs in the way so that they can do the best job possible.

Your hair grows back while it is healing. You should not shave it during this time (like on a leg tat).

After it heals, you can shave all that you want, or not.

You probably saw someone's tat that they shaved to try to show it off better. I think that looks strange too, unless you shave off all the surrounding hair also.

  6. no that guy probably just got it done or he shaves it, lol your hair def grows back :)

  7. It's probably normal but he is still weird;)

  8. No, it doesn't kill the hair.  And the guy may have been weird, but not for the reasons you think.  Either the tattoo was fresh and the area of the tattoo was still shaved from the tattoo artist shaving it.  or he might shave his arms (a lot of tattooed people do that) however, I don't know why he would only shave the tattoo part and not his whole arm, but to each his own, i guess..

  9. he probably shaves it because it does grow back.
