If you get busted downloading music for the first time, don't you just get a warning letter?

  1. not necessarily.  Different states have different laws and if you get caught by the US government and have a LOT of downloads (1000's) you can get in some serious trouble without ever receiving a letter.  If you want to still download but be safer, delete all of your torrents once you have downloaded then and put them where you want them.  If you simply have 25,000 songs on itunes and no torrents in your limewire, no folders in a download folder, or read only torrents, your chances of getting caught are quite lowered because they can't find nearly as much on your computer.  But there are still ways of tracking your downloading and this can get you busted without them finding more info on your computer.  

    In addition, your computer itself has a specific computer code that even if you download using many different IP's, you can still be caught because they can see which computer is doing the downloading.
