...What are the official best and worst punishments???

I know someone who got off with just a £150 fine after getting stopped for a broken light. But I've heard of so many people who get 6 points and the fine in court??

So does it depend on the situation in which you were stopped?

  1. my husband has an uninsured car parked on the road (he never once drove it) and he go 8 points and 150 pound fine for no insurance and 100 for no tax,.

  2. £5000 maximum fine if you get caugh without insurance

  3. 6-8 points and a fine

  4. Depends on the situation, if you owned the car, it was taxed, MOT'd, you had a full driving license without any points etc.

You would get 6points and a fine.

However, if the vechicle wasnt roadworthy, you already had offences for drivin without insurance etc.

You would get a 12-18 month driving ban,  heavy fine, in worst case could be a short prison sentence, depends on the situation though.

Personal addition:        Why were you thinnking of driving without insurance anyway?   What if you hit and killed someone?  You could get up to 14years in prison for that. Just for not having insurance.

What if you went into someones utter pride and joy, and their car was a write off, how would they feel, their insurance isnt going to cover that.

DRIVING WITHOUT INSURANCE IS ILLEGAL, AND TBH I HOPE YOU GET CAUGHT IF YOU TAKE THIS RISK.

  5. £200 fine and 6 points.  PLUS The vehicle will be seized and it costs about £120 + £15 per day storage before you can get it back.  ON top of which you have to get insurance!

  6. I suspect your friend wasn't done for driving without insurance. That, in the UK, attracts 6 - 8 points plus a hefty fine.  And the car may be seized on the spot and if you don't present yourself with valid documents within 7 days and pay the recovery & storage fee it can be crushed.

  7. You should be strapped to the nearest light pole and flogged soundly

  8. Depends on where you live in New York State in the US the Department of motor vehicles requires insurance to register a vehicle and gets notified if your insurance stops you get fined a certain amount everyday you dont turn in your license plates, and can get a hefty fine or get your license suspended.

  9. In the good old days all court ordered punishment was usually death or transportation to a distant but hostile shore.  Today you get both.

Yes, you'll get a transportation fine that makes you die a little.

  10. I was under the impression that you get an automatic driving ban, along with a fine...
