I have glasses but i want contacts because i don't really like glasses and i hate the suntan line. My mom told me that if you get contacts you can't do laser eye surgery because contacts will make your eye worse. Is this true?

  1. That is not true.  Laser eye surgery will correct your vision eliminating your need for contact lenses.  Contacts have no effect on your ability to have laser surgery.

  2. That is completely false. My friend's wife had eye surgery about a year ago and she wore contacts and glasses for a long time. So,no you can be eligible for it and long as you meet the age and eligibility requirements and as long as your optician will recommend it!

  3. No, getting contacts will not make your eyes worsen faster than glasses. But, lasik is no guarantee. You may still need corrective lenses after lasik depending on how bad your eyes are.

  4. That's not true at all, I have been wearing contacts for 10 years and I just got my lasik done 2 weeks ago, and it's totally worth it by the way.

  5. Well, First off depending on your age, and all that..... The best thing to do would be to go to a good eye doctor and ask them first if you are a good candidate for any type of eye corrective surgery... and then go from there... Everyones eyes are different. So good luck

  6. haha yea u dont need to worry about ur contacts.......that is just a temporary fix for ur eyes until the laser surgery.

    best of luck 2 u

  7. I wore contacts for 5 years before I got the laser surgery! I knew that contacts help stop loosing your vision or at least make it slower than wearing glasses.

Your doctor will tell you if you can get the laser surgery, there are many factors: shape of the cornea, dry eye, astigmatism or myopia, etc.... but having laser surgery was the best thing I have done!

  8. I'm wearing eye glasses and contact lenses (occasionally because I'm much comfortable with eye galsses and my doctor said it is much advisable because contact lenses is prone to dirt, contamination etc) but its not true that it will make it worse (not unless wrong prescription) and like you I'm interested to have a laser eye surgery but I'm not bothered using contact lenses...

  9. Noooo, that's not true at all.

Contacts don't make your eyes worse. Why would millions be wearing them if that were true.

That is just one more of the silly myths floating around about the eyes and vision correction.
