  1. if the Metra train is at full speed you are like a bug on a windshield. There is a very small chance that you'd survive if you got hit while in a car. With out the car your chance has more than dropped  75% or more of surviving. you have to realize that it's not like getting hit by a car or getting shot.If you are hit you're dead. no real time to save your life by getting you to a doctor or any thing. only real survivors are the lucky ones that get dragged or a limb cut off and that is still highly unlikely that you'll live.

  2. I kind of think your chances of getting killed by a Metra train would be the same as getting hit and killed by any other train, and that is not good.

In the part of the country I work we hit a lot of deer, which are roughly the same weight as an adult. If the train is going fast, they are thrown off to the side and almost always die but not everytime.

If a train is going slow, the deer usually go beneath the train and that is much worse and more hideous.

Your chances of survival would be very  poor but there are people that have been hit by trains and lived.

I have no idea the real numbers for percentages, that would take a bit of research but my guess is less than 10% based on experience.

    There are no absolutes, ever.

  3. Why don't you ask Connor Corish, winner of the 2008 Darwin Award?

  4. The federal government publishes books listing injury accidents involving railroads.  Nearly all of them are train vs. car or train vs. pedestrian.  I bought some at a model railroad swap meet, and browsed through them, interested to see patterns.  Only high speed trains, right?

Wrong.  OVER HALF of all fatal accidents occurred with the train going slower than FIVE MILES PER HOUR.  That's not even jogging speed.  That adds up to a whole lot of people getting extra stupid because they thought a slow train isn't as dangerous.

  5. As they say on TV shoes: "please dont try it at home".

75% chance to die... and 25% chance of becoming a vegetable!

  6. depends on the speed, they way you get hit, and the luck of the draw when you get hit.  if your thinking of comitting suicide don't do it either.

  7. Chances are that you will be fatally injured or die.  Trains are very heavy and have a crushing impact on the human body.

Are you planning to test the Metra train braking system or are you looking for a way out?

Please do not use this as a way out of this world, it is very messy and the railway workers suffer from this type of accident as well as you.  And, if you live, it will probably be in a hospital bed eating from a tube with no bladder or bowel movement control..

  8. surely it depends on the speed its going? if at walking pace or less, no, but you might be a bruise

  9. You can die by being hit by ANY train moving at ANY speed.

Unless very lucky, you won't survive... but you may wind up wishing you had not...

  10. you would probably die.
