If you go for an interview and the company begins to call your references, will they make an offer soon?

If a company is checking your references it doesn't mean you will receive an offer soon or at all. However, it's usually a good sign that they do have some sort of interest in you as a candidate for filling their position. I'd try a followup call if it's been a week or so since your last interview.
