After you complete college or receive one of your degrees, can you re-enlist as an officer instead of an e-1? And when I say re-enlist I don't mean finish up your term and then sign up as an officer. I mean just switch from an e-1 to an officer instead.

  1. If you are still an E-1 by the time you finish 60 or 90 credits, you have no business being an officer.  You should be an E-2 in 6 months, E-3 in 1 year, and E-4 in 2 years.

Seriously, though; once you finish your 90 credits, talk to your Platoon Leader or Company Commander and they will be more than happy to help you apply for OCS.

You don't go straight from enlisted to officer, you have to go through Officer Candidate School, then you get promoted to O-1.

You also need to look into the Green-to-Gold program.

  2. You have to apply for OCS, which means getting a letter of recommendation from your commander.

You will need 90 semester hours of college credit, that apply toward a specific degree program.

Not just 90 semester hours of college credits.

  3. You would have to apply for OCS when you acumalate at least 60 credit hours.  Your recruiter can give you more information on the other requirements after you get enough hours.
