  1. I had this happen many times when I lived in New Jersey, usually with an attendant that barely spoke English. I'd ask for $5 worth(back when $5 would actually get you a decent amount of gas), and wind up with a full tank. And I'd make it clear that I'd want $5 by holding up 5 fingers and I'd still wind up with a full tank. I know they did it on purpose sometimes, just trying to rip me off. However each time this happened I'd tell them, that's your problem not mine then leave, never had a problem with it. BTW, I now work as a cashier in a self serve station in South Carolina, if you tell me the wrong pump number, and someone else pumps your gas, you're SOL unless the other person pays for it.

  2. Did you get 50 dollars worth of gas? Then you pay for it you are not going to get free gas.

  3. This is a tricky one. Um, if you have the tendencies to slur your words then your probly better off pumping your own tank.  With all these foreigners out there,  You... must... be... art..tic..u. late. their mistake for not understanding you. your mistake for not understanding them.

  4. If the customer insists on just $15 worth, then the attendant should siphon the extra back out.

  5. Mistakes can happen, which is why you are suppose to be paying attention.

Yes, you need to pay for what you got, there is no way they can take the excess back after all.

  6. Well while it was a misunderstanding, yes you should have to pay.  I remember the good 'ole' days when you actually had the stop the pump yourself.  There's no reason why you shouldn't have been paying attention instead of taking advantage of technology and the station.
