  1. yes, In many countries the laws are different.

  3. You have to abide by their laws, and if you break them they can try and punish you under their legal system. But they do not have total power over you, as you are not a Burmese citizen, so they can't call you up into their army, or make you pay income taxes etc.

  4. Good question. Actually, no, they do not hold absolute power over you, because of the fact that you are a U.S citizen (i'm assuming you are??) But you do have the responsibility to know and understand all of their laws, and you can be prosecuted by them if you fail to obide by their laws. But prosecution would have to go internationaly, by u.s standards, you have the right to an attorney.

  5. When you are in their country - you are subject to their laws.
