If you go to the hospital for drinking, should they give you drugs?

My friend went to the hospital a few weeks ago after drinking too much. His BAC was 2.9%. He was at the hospital for over a day, and did brain scans, cat scans, X-rays, they also gave him drugs(we believe morphine but havent confirmed yet) along with putting IV's in him. To me the scans and drugs dont seem right.... Does anyone know more on this? It was done at a private hospital not asking for 29,000 $.

That does not seem right, unless he was injured in some way before going to the hospital (like if he were drunk, and fell off a balcony, etc.).
