My friend is having some trouble and was thinking...

If you got pregnant during your period would your period stop right after the s*x or what would happen to your period?

What I'm asking is, like, she says her period usually is heavy, like a lot of blood clots and stuff. And she had just started on her monthly period yesterday night. And then she had unprotected s*x the following day. And now her period is kind of lighter than usual.

Is there something wrong with her cycle or is she pregnant or what else?

  1. Fertilization happens in the fallopian tubes, well away from whatever is happening in the uterus.  It takes a fertilized egg 6-12 days to travel down and implant into the uterus. Nothing "stops" before that happens, because technically she's not pregnant until that happens.

It's less likely, but certainly possible, for a girl to be ovulating during her period (or what she thinks is her period). But having a lighter period the day after s*x is no sign of pregnancy, because pregnancy doesn't happen that fast. It might have been lighter this month even if she hadn't had s*x. No one's menstrual periods are the same every time.

She'll just have to wait and see.

  2. My dear... "Hello kid"...

There is  NO WAY  in the world, one can get pregnant while having her period !! NO WAY !!! But...let me advise you for the future...PLEASE do get some type of birth-control, so you do not have to sit-around...worrying yourself "to death" !!! Obviously the both of you have such LITTLE information about : HOW the body "works"...so..do contact : "Planned Parenthood". They have lots of brochures, pamplets, etc. on the "body-functions", etc. There you can get counselling as well as contraceptives !!! PLEASE  do that  SOON !!

I wish you both all the best for the future ! Greetings from Germany with all my love & concern.... Annette***

  3. no, your period will not just stop. I had a period into my seventh month of my pregnancy, which is normal in many women. She should not have unprotected s*x because besides getting pregnant, she could catch HIV, or chlamydia.
