If you were in charge picking the representatives (no more than 5 please) for either side of the debate who would you choose?

For me, being a skeptic, I would include:

Roy Spencer

Christopher Monckton

S. Fred Singer

Bob Carter

Steve McIntyre

I suppose I should spend more time considering my choices as I would really want a wide range of skills included, but for an off the cuff group, I think my side would win with these 5.

Who would your 5 be?

  1. On the pro side I'd pick

    Jeff Severinghaus

    Ralph Keeling

    Kevin Trenberth

    Kerry Emanuel

    Susan Solomon

I'd love to pick the other side too, but don't think that would be fair.

  2. James Hansen

    Gavin Schmidt

    Kerry Emanuel

    Ray Pierrehumbert

    Mike Lockwood

By the way, 3 of your 5 aren't climate scientists.  I find that interesting.  If I were you, I'd replace McIntyre with Svensmark, Carter with Christy, and Monckton with Lindzen.  And while I'm at it, take Singer out of there and replace him with Shaviv.

  3. Well, I would stick McIntyre in there and basically eliminate their entire basis for the argument.  Since the entire argument is based on statistics and he is a Master of Statistics, remember when he made NASA fix their error?

Then I would stick Hansen in there, after about 5 minutes he will be exposed for his agenda.

Bob, the heads of those agencies would not fair well.  They would only be thinking of the money they will receive from the government through grants.  They would probably forget all of their fake facts.

  4. You have several good choices, but I don't think it matters much. Put Gore up against any real scientist and he would look like a fool. There is a reason Gore says there should not be any more debate and that he will never allow one.

This is not mere speculation either. A bona fide debate was indeed held in New York between alarmists and realists.

The neutral debate judges declared the realists the winners by a wide margin.

  5. No one. Man-made global warming is not a political debate. It's a scientific fact and can't be changed by your fake "debates."

  6. The head of the National Academy of Sciences.

The head of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

The head of the American Meteorological Association

The head of the American Geophysical Union

The head of the American Institute of Physics

That should pretty well illustrate the place of the "skeptics" in the scientific community.
