If you gre up with a dad that hardly communicated with you but if you ever needed

anything he was there and as you grew older you both still didn't hardly communicate not even when seeing each other somewhere other than hello and thats it. is that the parents fault or the child continuing that through adulthood because now this person doesn't know how to react

  1. blame is not important.  what is important is what can be done to change things.  if you expect him to provide you with the wisdom of the ages, you may be expecting too much particularly since you still  don't know why he doesn't communicate much. whether he feels too poorly educated to be a good communicator or something else keeps him clammed up, you may never know.  Thought might to just start communicating.  Like - "i've been thinking about what I should do with my life.  I'm stuck between being a church minister and high school english teacher.  what do you think? "  

    you may have to do most of the work but if communication is what you want, you'll know the work is worth it.  good luck  


  2. Def! not the child's fault.

    The parent showed no communication and as a parent it is their responsibility to teach their child how to communicate and show affection. If the child grew up not knowing how to show affection or communication then the blame would not be the child's, when he grew up and became an adult.
