Cold water holds breathable air better than warm water.Frogs and Salamanders can drown if they are dependent on coming to the surface for air rather than on gills and are prevented by something between them and the surface. A fish out of water will die, it will suffocate surrounded in air, because its gills need water to properly strain out air. As to how many fish you have, I would guess 38,000.
