what would you do. I'm looking for a hobby to take up. I'm 24 years old and I don't like photography, reading, knitting, sports, scrap booking or anything like that. I really want an activity to occupy my spare time but I can't think of anything fun to do with a very limited amount of money. Any ideas?

  1. What a lucky time in your life...to have lots of free time!  I remember those days :)  I think the key to this question is found not in what you are not interested in, but what you DO like!  What are your interests?  If money were no object, what skill or topic would you love to delve into body, mind, and soul?  There are always ways to use your passions, even if money is tight.  The local library or arts association are great and free resources.  And if you play your cards right, you could make a career out of it one day, or earn some nice money.

But the key is, it has to be a passion for you, and it should offer some lasting value to your life, and preferable to the lives of others.  Because the day will come when you do not have a lot of free time, and you'll want to have invested the time you have now in something that holds value for you in the future...including value in knowledge and experience.  So choose something that really suits your soul and life goals.

Are you relational? Maybe volunteer with the elderly and learn or help with crafts at the retirement home in your area, work with children, pet sit, baby sit...

Are you technical? Build a website, study photography, study cooking (regional foods, pasteries, or professionally)...

Are you visual? there are lots of visual arts. Pastels, watercolor, oils, portraiture (images of people or pets), interior design, faux finishing and decorative painting...

Are you good at communication?  blogging, writing, book clubs,...

And then there are hobbies that are related to a specific interest: fashion (sewing), pets, wildlife, nature (hiking/camping)...

Here are some ideas of things that I find time to do because I am passionate about them:

-interview our oldest family members and record their memories.  Organize, label and scan their pictures, and put them together in photo scrapbooks (with the story of their life) so that every family member can have a copy.

-find, test, and organize healthy recipes for my family.

  2. Beaded and wire-wrapped jewelry is the way to go then. Not only is it fun and doesn't cost too much (depending on your skill level and how much you want to put in to it) and if you get good, it's great for homemade, one of a kind gifts and an even better way to make money

  3. Painting, or a musical instrument.  That's what I do.

  4. You'll probably hate this answer, but I have to tell you that I hated scrapbooking, I thought it was "mini-van mom-ish".  But, someone gave me a bunch of tools once, and then I noticed that a lot of my home made CD's and DVD's were just thrown in ugly jewel cases with white lines and a song list.  I used my scrapbooking stuff to make awesome CD covers for my favorite bands and stuff, and then I started to make them for friends because they started requesting them.  It all rolled into, if you look at it the right way, scrapbooking can be about anything you want it to be, not just photo albums.

  7. Wow...there's a lot of things you don't like....

How about jigsaw puzzles??  Or maybe you need to pick up one of those hand-held computer games!??  There's alway crossword or word-find puzzles as well.
