If you had a "special needs child", would you choose a career that took time away from that child?

Bobbi - do you have a special needs child??? I asked that question becuase I do and I do know what it is like to raise one. Her child is 4 months old. Her hardest days are ahead of her.

as the way conservatives my argue. that is exactly the reason why her teenage daughter is pregnant. if she would have stayed home and spent more time with them reading the bible to them this wouldn't have happened! she puts her job before her family values. isn't that the way they suppose to argue about this issue? hypocrisy again!  peace

Oh come on. You do not need to be a 'helicopter mom' when you have a special needs child. I am proud that she sees the baby as the same as her others, without plastering him with a label.

If I was the primary breadwinner, or if I were divorced I would. Also, if I was in another state that has poor services for special needs families to care for their child, I might be forced back to work. But no offence to those with a down syndrome child, but it seems to be not as disabling as many other conditions. I know they have hypotonia and cognitive problems, but not sure why the mother being home will correct that. Really, this question would not even be asked of a father of a special needs child. The media is being extremely sexist, why are you doing the same? Her husband is capable of staying home with that child and caring for him don't you think?

I think that it is fair to question that when the party that claims to espouse "family values" nominates a mother for VP that is willing to leave behind a four month old downs syndrome baby and a seventeen year old pregnant daughter to campaign, and also to take on the responsibility of taking on what is possibly the most demanding job in the world.

I have been wondering what the darling of family values Dr. Laura Schlesinger would say about Sarah Palin.
