  1. Depends how much you know. If you know about cars, computers and bananas and live in 1700, you'd be really depressed.

But if you had all the basics and didn't know better, you'd be quite happy and lucky.

  2. only if I were an aristocrat. I love the beautiful clothing and corsets they had back in those days. That's of course taking into account your conditions, long life etc.

  3. Thats a somewhat loaded question.A lack of things I consider basic defines my view of the 17thcentury.

    1) food. people starved to death. whats a banana? whats a tomato? whats a coconut? if it wasn't from your field you never saw one.

    2) healthcare. toothache? broken bone? polio? small pox?

    3) transportation. most people never left their town.

    4) peace. war was constant, and not far away.

    5) indoor plumbing. it gets cold on winter nights.

    6) shelter. heating, insulation, roofing, air conditioning. people froze to death.

    7) literacy. not likely in the 17th century

    8) cleanliness. showers, toothbrushes

    No chance.

  4. I would if I was born around 1750 and came to America when the United States was forming.  Yes life would be rougher with no air conditoning, refridgeration, cars, etc., but it would be great to not have all the pollution that comes from it.  Wouldn't really want to visit the medical facilities but I bet you wouldn't get way overcharged like you do today.  No taxes would be a plus, fighting in a war that meant something with benevolent leaders that actually cared about the people they governed, and being part of the excitement of the time would be interesting.
