If you had been a victim of knife crime - how would you like to be visited by potential perpetrators?

This seems mad to me. If I'd been knifed the last thing I would want is a bunch of kids coming in to hospital to look at me and see how it affects real people. How many kids would each victim have to be visited by? Would victims of knife crime be trained in how to present themselves - some of them will doubtless think it enhances thier reputation; how will they be screened out?

No way! I do NOT associate with such people now so why on earth would i wish to associate with such people should i become a victim of their appalling sick behaviour? I totally agree with you. It's madness. Violence breeds Violence so i'd neither wish to meet them OR stoop to their levels by doing something just as bad to them. Let the law take care of it. This way we can't be tainted by those who act their way OR THINK their way!

I have been stabbed, and no I wouldn't be interested in seeing him, but I did know who he was. A bit embarrassed to admit this, but the only thing that stopped his continuing threats was a snooker ball in a sock.

edit: it might work for some to see the reality of their actions.

I went out to some kids the other week, one of them did a gun shot sign to me saying he's gonna come back and shoot me. Do you wanna know what I did, stamped on his little head. 2 days later he came to my flat and apologised and said it was what he needed. BRILLIANT.

Only if I could be waiting for the vicious little sh** with a team of seriously hard and heavy b*****ds, all tooled-up with pick axe handles and 3lb hammers, and we could batter the nasty little f***er senseless and send him back to borstal with his kneecaps on back-to-front, and wearing his knackers for earrings. That would suit me fine, thank you very much.

Edit: in answer to your additional point/clarification: No, because it would upset normal, sensible kids, and would just be considered "a laugh" by the kind of nasty, no-mark, wannabee-gangsta w***ers who do this kind of thing. The certain promise of a seriously long, hard stretch in borstal (who's the Daddy now ???) with no soppy social workers poking their noses in would be the best disincentive of all.

I really don't think it is fair on the victims of knife crime to have to see potential thugs when they are just coming around.

But the notion of maybe showing pictures and videos of people who have been stabbed to these kids about to go off the rails may not be such a bad idea. I think they would be shocked enough by images in many cases, but there is no need to put victims in the situation of having more stress.

I think this is a crazy idea, thought up by someone who has no grasp on reality.  Does this MOP really think that seeing someone in hospital who has been knifed is really going to make these thugs think twice, they'll probably go off snickering "Nice one" - honestly I despair of this Government.
