card. (You were not able to make the payments)..so they lowered them for you. I thought everything was fine...But I had to go to court to answer a COMPLAINT, which i did...and now i received A DEFAULT"...Why do they keep pursuing this...i am now with a debt counselor and they are taking payments out of my check every two weeks??? Should i just throw away the stuff i receive in the mail???

  1. Your credit card company is under no obligation whatsoever to accept settlements from debt counselors. Debt counselors have no legal authority to force any settlement on your credit card accounts.  I hate to make excuses for credit card companies....but unfortunately it's within their right to pursue court action against you like they are now doing.   I wouldn't throw anything you receive in the mail regarding this judgement in the trash....it's important to read and deal with it....Your debt counselor can't help you with this....
