If you had no choice but to serve in a conflict (battle/war), which one would it be?

The Spanish Civil War. The bravery demonstrated by the rag-tag rebels against the all powerful fascists always amazes me. I just read "For Whom the Bell Tolls" Ernest Hemmingway, and this is the most salient conflict for me.

I find no glory in thoughts of war .. But  if I had to choose a conflict to fight in , it would be world war 2 ....  if we had lost ... we on the east coast would be speaking German .. on the west coast they'd be speaking Japanese.
