  1. As they are both hydrocarbon liquids, very close to each other in Density, they will mix together with no separation.

    As a mixture, they shouldn't be used in either a Gasoline or a  Diesel engine.

    Once mixed, because of their different compositions, they can be separated again by Fractional Distillation.

    Gasoline, the lighter of the two, has a Boiling Range between 40°C to 204°C, while Diesel ranges from 150°C to 390°C.


  2. Trick question! While Petrol is lighter than diesel and should float on top, they are mutually soluable. So, they will mix together with no interface.
