If you had the choice to go to playa del carmen or Cozumel which would you choose, why?

Playa de Carmen. It's central to all the sight seeing stuff. It's only a ferry ride away from Cozumel, but it's a bus ride away to Cancun, Tulum and Xel-Ha. As far as night clubs and senor frogs, those are EVERYWHERE!

Depending of what you want...

Honeymoon, romantic, relax, outdoors -> Cozumel

Party, lots of people, amazing time in Playa Mamitas -> Playa del Carmen

in both you can have a relaxing time and outdoor adventure but cozumel is an island, more quiet, more simple... playa has a great night life and a wonderfull small beaches to hang out

I just returned from Cozumel, and had a blast. They are very friendly over there also. They cater to the tourist. We went parasailing, jet skiing, then went to Senior frogs. Such a blast!! I don't know about Playa Del Carmen, but did have fun in Cozumel. Oh, beware of the statue look alikes, they are real people...scared the c**p outta me! ha

Personally, I would go to PdC, because it gives you easy access to SO many things to see and do: ruins, cenotes, ATV tours, zip-lining, beautiful beaches, multi-cultural atmosphere, shopping, great food, and so much more.

(And... if you go during hurricane season, there are more places to get away from a storm on the mainland, than on an island.)

between those two......playa del carmen.  there is a lot more to do in playa......i suggest staying at gran coco bay....it is close to fifth avenue and all the attractions and action.  the price there is reasonable.  cozumel is more expensive and not as much to do.  you can ferry over to cozumel for the day from playa del carmen and enjoy both.
