  1. I'd pick something people could spell & pronounce a bit easier-my name is from Eastern Europe and everybody has a hard time with it,nobody ever pronounces it correctly.

  2. Hilton.  I'd try to claim 3rd cousin or something.  Maybe I'd go for the first name of London or Egypt.

Then again, maybe I'd claim the last name of Buffet.  I might even call myself 'Muffet Buffet' just for the heck of it.  My best friends could call me Muffy or even Buffy.  A little on the boring side but, hey, even bigger $$$ in the family tree.

    Gates just isn't fun enough....

  3. Minogue.

  4. Dudemeister

  5. It all depends on what, if any, agenda I had at the time.

If you want one for a work of fiction, consider the context -- locale, heritage, cultural references (probably don't pick Hitler or Himmler), era, gender, and similar factors.

In our western culture, the point is so moot, as our system of patronym naming loses our mothers' names so easily.  So I might go back somewhere to one of my feminine forbears' names.  But which???

  6. Carter, Seeley, Dion.

  7. well i  would think about what cultural apeals to me has surnames vary greatly form country to country

i would research that a bit, do you want to combine

2 names and make your own

do you still want it to hold a special meaning for you

me i would look at the over 900 surmnames in my family history and pick something over 300 yrs old that feel out of use

  8. It would totally be Wellington, Fitzpatrick, Courtland or Lovelace.

  9. Hotaling, or Nguyen
