If you had to choose an online broker between Zecco and TradeKing which would you choose and why?

I don't like either of them.  Zecco has been rated for worst research and customer service by SmartMoney.  In addition, they're website is not very easy to use.  The problem I heard about TradeKing was that their website is a little slow, causing execution times to be delayed.

I currently use Firstrade ( http://www.firstrade.com/ ).  They are not as cheap as Zecco or TradeKing, but I believe that they are more reliable than either of the two other brokers.  The commission rates at Firstrade are still lower than big name brokers like Etrade, Scottrade, Ameritrade, and Schwab.  They have excellent customer service and an easy to use website that is perfect for beginners.  I would definitely recommend you to check them out.

TRADEKING TRADEKING TRADEKING.  

Same company of Barron's, Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, Virtual Stock Exchange, Marketwatch.  Good commissions.  Excellent customer service (ask a question about something you can't find anywhere else, and they will spend time to answer it for you well -- I've done this plenty of times).  They have better account insurance as well.

As for Zecco, I tried to open an IRA with them about 6 months back, but it took over a month to process and still wasn't close, so I just canceled.  I have heard of traders having trouble getting money out of their accounts too, although I have no confirmation of this.

Also, TradeKing's margin rates are much better, if that is something you are interested in.

Just my opinion.

If I was simply looking for free trades I would use Zecco.  If I was looking for the best rated customer service broker I would choose TradeKing.

neither.

both are fly-by-night operations that aren't large enough for me to trust them with a dime of my money.
