  1. i would comment on the safety of the equipment...fun level for the kids...cleanliness...how the kids play on the playground would be important also.

  2. I would probably list all the positive things about the playground and what areas really benefit the children that use it. And if there were some areas that I thought needed repaired or updated I would also make a note of that. even if you feel like you don't want to say anything negative, when it comes to children using playground equipment you should always let someone know if there needs to be an improvement!! If there is a problem with any of the items there or the surroundings it could be a danger zone for kids. Pretty much just put down the pros and cons of the playground and be up front about any and all concerns you may have!!  Good Luck

  3. The most important thing is SAFETY. When you walk around the playground, just think is it safe if a kid goes here or stand there. And is the fencing the right height?

  4. Start by making a checklist and then going into playground...look at:

    -safety

    -security (fencing/gates)

    -Access to and from playground (eg: cna they go straight from classroom or do they have to be excorted)

    -cleanliness

    -Storage

    -Equipment

    -What level are things at? Children's level?

    -Is there any natural world?

    -Anything that encourages the areas of learning.

    you could also do an observation of playground in use-what are kids playing with, how and they playing, what social groups etc then you can see what is the most used and least used, any problems you can see etc.

  5. * adequate space

    * variety of surfaces (hard for riding toys; sand; soft under structures; grass)

    * water accessibility

    * bathroom accessibility

    * variety of play (steering wheel; climing; riding; etc)

    * adequate cushioning under fall zones

    * shade

    * designated areas of play (space for pushing trucks; space for riding toys that doesn't come under fall zones, etc)

    * safety
