If you had to memorize 60 pages, how would you tackle it?

The easiest answer is probably just to skip school and tell the teacher that you were sick. NO, I need a real answer!

Does anybody have a good method or an effective trick for memorizing large amounts of text? Somebody, just give me some ideas or suggestions! Memorizing is one thing. If the homework seems too big and just simply not doable, then what do you tell yourself to do it anyway? Is there a trick to convince yourself to keep working on something which you think cannot be accomplished?

  1. Break this down to smaller sections of maybe Ten pages. Read them into a tape recorder and listen to them over and over again. Once you get the first part memorized, go to the second part, then to the third.

My teacher for a comedy class told us to do that for our final exam, which was to perform in a comedy club in Michigan.

It was boring to listen to my routine over and over, but it was effective.

  2. You must do more than memorize, you have to understand what it is you are trying to learn.learn it and memory stays more intact.

  3. you must understand what ure trying to learn..rattafication wont help u!

  4. I hope you have some time because you'll need to rehearse the memory. You'll also need to 'want' to commit it to memory, which means you'll need to be in the right frame of mind. (Relaxed, free from distration etc). We tend to remember the first and last parts of things so don't lose the middle! Don't just focus on remembering the text, place visual images in your mind with it, so it's easier to retrieve with that visual representation. And lastly, something in psychology used with memory is chunking. We do it in everyday life to make things easier for ourselves, for example telephone numbers. Work on chunks of it, not just the entire thing as a whole otherwise it may become a bit fuzzy. Good luck!

  5. mind map helps me a lot...and also share and teach others everything you've read..this will make you memorize easier..gd luck
