If you had to pick one, is a tomato a fruit or vegetable?

My reasons to believe it's a vegetable are that it is in V8 vegetable juice and that they can be put in sandwiches. Last time I checked, fruits aren't put in burgers and whatnot.

  1. I agree.  Fruits are usually sweet and sugary and most of us combine tomatoes with veggies not fruits.... like I wouldn't want a blueberry tomato pie!

  2. Well it is considered a fruit technically however I always think of it as a veggie as well!

  3. I believe that any produce that contains seeds is considered a fruit.  A zucchini is an immature fruit.

  4. It's not really about picking one.  A tomato is a fruit because it has seeds inside it, vegetables do not.  This is an answer based on botany, not personal opinion.

Other fruits that are put into burgers include cucumbers (ie pickles).

  5. well it's actualy a fruit ,

but : i'm so used to it as a veggie ,

thats what i consider it .

  6. FRUIT! forsureeeeee.

    :]

  7. Fruit, because of it's consistency.

  8. Botanically, it's a fruit. It's just not sweet like other fruits. I guess the taste has more of a veggie quality to it, that's why they're put in salads and stuff.

And some Hawaiian-themed burgers, dishes, and pizza have pineapple in them

  9. any thing that has seeds is a fruit.
