  1. I usually have the children make all the decoration.  They make tissue paper flowers for the vases.  We also make napkin ring holders based on the theme.  The children  do a presentation of their favorite songs, fingerplays etc.  They get to bring their parent to the centers and share their favorite activity with their parent.  I video tape the children preparing a snack for their parents.  The children take their parent to the table and everyone eats together as one big family.  We reassemble in front of the TV and I play the video of their child preparing for the big parent meeting.  I share a handout about something that is an issue at the time. Ex: the importance of putting children in the car seat, potty training info. etc. The children make thank you cards for their parents and draw a picture and I dictate what the children tell me on their picture and send it home with the parents.  I also include a survey evaluating our care and ask for suggestions on how we could improve or what other things parents might want us to offer.

  2. This event was hit in my school.

    1. Movie Night on the  school grass:

    1.Get a big screen and a projector.

2.Get a Movie.I recommend High School Musical 1 or 2 (2 is better but if you don't have it get 1)it was a big hit.

    3.Sell popcorn,soda,cotton candy,candy bars and water.each for a dollar.

4.when people enter there would be 2-5 dollar fee.or 5 dollars if the whole intermediate family comes.

5.you don't need to decorate the area just bring lawn chairs for about 50 people.on the fliers say to bring blankets to lie down on the grass.then leave a space so people have room to put down their blankets.the blankkets are up front and the chairs are at the back.

This is for elementary schools.maybe some middle schools.sorry i can't help you for high school

    6.on the flier say

                              Movie Night

                   Presenting:High School Musical 2

                  On:date here,time here

                     Bring you blankets (optional)

*there will be a fee of 2 dollars for each person or 5 dollars for the whole family. food and drinks will be sold for 1 dollar each.

  3. It will depend on the event you are planning.

I would let the children help decorate the classroom with their art work.

Also let them make the invitations maybe using their handprints, made in art.

I would have in my classroom the parents can see what the children have been doing all week.

You are invited to our Art show

    Date:

    Time:

    Place:

    refreshments/door prizes

the door prizes can be some of the children's art work framed.

  4. Depends on the age of the children...and other details, more info needed to help you out.

  5. We are planning a Mother's Tea for right before Mother's Day - one female person is invited - the kids are making placemats, they will greet their parent at the door and seat them in their own chair in the classroom and they will serve them a two cookies (one for mom, one for them) and we will serve iced tea.  Then the children are going to sing Skidamarink and give their mom a  flower and the day is over.  Begins and ends in about 15 minutes which is perfect for that age.
