If you hate a new *shiny*blue* (bling) aluminum bike, how easy is it to change the color?

either get a professional to powdercoat it for you or sand it down and spray paint it yourself.

but if you spray paint it yourself you need all the waterproof paint and you need to do a fair few layers so that if you scratch it, it doesnt show the chrome underneath.

the easiest way is spray paint. get some steel wool, lightly rough up the paint (the paint will stay better)

Take your time, take off the components, use painters tape to overup whatever you dont want paint on. A razor for detailing is handy.

Put on 3-4 coats, let it dry overnight in between each. Finish it up with a clearcoat.

Oh... and use a steady hand when painting! don't put it on too thick!

I've done this to quite a few bikes now... it turns out looking near professional when done right.
