If you have a 3% chance of success at something, what does that mean?

Does that mean if you try 100 times 3 of those times you'll be successful OR does it mean everytime you try to succeed at that one thing you have a 3% chance?

It means it would take a miricle for you to succeed.

more like the latter. it's like rolling a die (dice) with 100 sides and you have any 3 numbers between 1 and 100 which are winning numbers. There is a possibility that you roll any of those 3 numbers but it is quite small or your 3%

It means that you have very little chance of success. But if someone has said that to you, you don't have to believe it. Many a successful person was told they were hopeless at school!

Did someone really say that ? sorry, it means chances are very slim indeed ,out of 100 tries likely to win only thrice .That should not prevent you from trying to improve the odds .
