If you have a BlackBerry on Verizon, do you have to pay for the email service?

i really want a BlackBerry Pearl for Verizon Wireless. but i was wondering..do you have to pay for the email package if you have a blackberry on verizon, even if you arent going to use it? i just want to use the phone for texting, and calling. i dont need web browsing, or email..so can i just use it for texting and talking and not have to pay for the email and data service?

Yes you do. the add on a fee to each months bill for internet access.
