  1. I was told that after I had my c-section I would bleed heavily for a while.  I did maybe a week and it wasn't even heavy.  I was also told I'd have a really bad first period after having the baby and I didn't.  It was a regular one.

So, I guess not all women have that same problem.

  2. Yep. Just had a c-section 7 weeks ago. I was having a heavy bleed for maybe a week, then it tapered off over about 3 weeks. I found it changed a bit (heavy, dark, light etc) and had some small clots aswell. This is apparently all fine and normal, just jeep an eye on the clots and go to your dr. if they are larger than a 20c piece.

Ive been told the bleeding is often much heavier after a vaginal birth...

  3. Yes.  The uterine lining that built up during the pregnancy still has to break down and be expelled as the uterus shrinks back to normal size.

Think about it this way - a non pregnant uterus is about the size of a pear.  It takes a few days for the lining that has built up to break down and leave the body - your period.

A full term pregnant uterus is about the size of a soccer ball.  Imagine how much lining has built up and how lomng it's going to take for it all the break down and leave the body!   This is why you "bleed" for weeks.  It's not actually bleeding.  It's called lochia.

  4. yes you sure do!

  5. It wasn't that bad, to me it was lighter than a normal period.  I was told that the breastfeeding also helps to shrink your uterus etc too.  Good luck

  6. Yes you will bleed about a month after you have the baby. The only thing that sucks about a c-section is that every baby after the c-section you will have to deliver c-section so i hope i was of some help

  7. Yes- at least I did after both of my c-sections. Breastfeeding stops the bleeding a lot quicker either way, though.

  8. Yes you do, I had two, and I bead pretty bad the first couple days,, but I breast fed and the bleeding went away.

  9. yep you sure do. the bleeding isnt from the birht itself its from your body getting rid of the lining of your uterus, just like a big period

i had two c-sections...my first i only bled for about a week and a half, my second was about a month or so

  10. i bled bad for about 3 weeks then it completely stopped

  11. My sister has had 4 c sections and she said she bled for about a month after each one.  So, yes.
