  1. too vague a question making all the answers guesses to what you need to know. what water are you on? what specie are you planning on catching?

every rod can and will break but if you have a cheap rod replace it an angler is only as good as his (or her) equipment and the knowledge to be presenting the right color bait in the right place at the right time

  2. If your line is heavier than the rated capacity of the rod you stand a VERY good chance of snapping the rod tip first then depending on how heavy the fish or bend in the rod - it could break anywhere.

I've had good luck with some cheap rods - they normally don't last long... sometimes brand name doesn't mean a quality rod and vice versa.  Hooks are another story - I've had those great quality south bend and other no name hooks break too many times.  Now I only use brand name hooks...

BTW what is good line? I've always thought of it as a matter of prospective - what I might consider good line you might think it's junk, what you think is good a pro might not think so...

    Good luck fishing....

  3. The line plays a part in whether or not the pole can withstand tension but not much.  Rod snappage usually occurs because the pole surpasses a 90 degree angle and becomes prone to snapping.  When fighting a fish, just make sure the line is tight.  That may require some pole bending but not much.

  4. There would be even more of a chance of your rod snapping.

  5. lines n rods r different thing,if the line is cheap line still its worth using when u fish small fishes mostly.when u want a good size then u should use a fair priced line, the quality is there for every penny spent.anyway u should have the experience yourself with a few guidance from our fellow hardcore fishing mates, the brands r simply too many out there.rods do wear off even u maintain them in a good way Cos everything will deteriorate no matter how u maintain like one faithful day we will somehow die.so don't worry just get the fish u want,errors/mistakes will make u stronger n far more independent than your age, this is what we want-experiences equal fun.enjoy.the rod wont snap easily like most ppl think provided it has far exceeded its capacity.those cheap rods will snap when u do hit something really big like u r not expecting at that location.2mm of the thickness of your rod has the capacity of 3.75kg,so if your rod is12mm then its very decent for those cheap rods also the material used in making your rod,if better stronger.when u hooked a fish the weight is being on your line then to your rod,how u play depends on the experience.just dont make sudden heavy jerks and the angle of your rod plus your line.your fish should somehow be within 6inches from your rod tip, like an invisible marker to follow ur target with your tip.also 45 on your angle lock on.

  6. There is a good possibility if you fish a line that's above the suggested breaking strain for that rod and if the drag isn't set.

  7. It might. The line, no matter if it is cheap or top shelf, will still pull the tip of the rod down. If a big enough fish grabs it and dives down, it could possibly snap the rod. I've hooked fish that have bent my rod double, so watch out.
