If you have a high pressure air tank and need to dump air far quicker than dump valve could, any suggestions?

What I'm looking for is to release shots of air at say 30-40 times per second and I'm told conventional dump valves can't electronically work at these speeds? I thought of having a sleeve of some sort rotating around the tank but how to actually release the air is beyond me...any suggestions?

  1. You're up against the inertia of the air, and possibly

    resonance inside the tank.

At 30-40Hz you might look into a tuned cavity combined with your valve.

A poppet valve will work, but you'd encounter

    flow problems.

  2. A common method is to apply a Burst Disk or a Rupture Disk, like that found on tanks for scuba diving.
