I am e-mailing an resume and cover letter..

should I send them both as attachments in pdf? or should I copy paste the cover letter as the body of the e-mail and only attach the resume?

IF I attach them both, what should I write in the body of the e-mail?

secondly, can you give any advice on a way to make my cover letter stand out and grab attention?

Thanks for your help : )

  1. This is hard for most people, but brag about yourself. Tell the employer in the cover letter what you can do for them and how this new relationship will benefit them. Be a little arrogant, but don't go over the top. The cover letter and resume should both be as attachments, but you should also copy a shortened version of your cover letter in the email body. Include information such as what position you're applying for, where you saw the opening posted, your contact information, and how eager you are to schedule an interview to discuss the start of a mutually beneficial relationship.

BTW, you should try to stay away from salary "history" requests. You can provide what your salary "requirements" are, but I would try to stay away from salary subject all together until you have the opportunity to meet with them and discuss your experience and knowledge. Show them that they need you!

    Hope this helps! :-)

  2. I agree with Kim. Just say enclosed  please my complete resume for your review and consideration. If my experience meet your needs, please contact at you convenience

  3. Send them both as attachments.  It is hard for me to read resumes and cover letters that are pasted.  They are not aligned correctly.

In this day and age, most people do not send cover letters.  I do not read the resume unless a cover letter is sent.

Do not give too much information.  Make it easy and enjoyable to read.  No more than a two-page resume.  Make sure that all of your formatting is consistent.  So important!

Only a sentence or two is necessary in the body of the e-mail.

Good luck!  Just the fact that you are asking the question shows me that you will succeed!
